Using NLP State Management To Rediscover Your Contentment

by Mind Power on January 5, 2012

Paraphrasing what internationally famous NLP inducement speaker Anthony Robbins once expounded about state management,”To attain success in any endeavours of your life, there’s almost nothing as necessary as learning how to manage your emotional or mental state.

Two Approaches to NLP State Management

Today, we're going to be debating 2 NLP techniques of handling your state using NLP. The number one way of changing your state is by means of revolutionizing the way you act and the second way is by changing what youchooseto target in life.

  1. Change the way you act: First and most important, you've got to understand that our body and mind are actually one. Just as your emotion has the facility to influence your body, you can also use motion to influence your emotion.

Recall a time in your life when you were feeling joyous? If you might just spend one or two seconds to come back to the past, what were you seeing, hearing and feeling while you were experiencing joy?

Spot the way your body replies when you are feeling joyful. Are your shoulders feeling relaxed or tensed up? Are your jaws feeling relaxed or tensed up? Are you respiring deep or shallow? Were you scowling when you were feeling joyous?

As you can see, there's a need for you to “act” in a certain manner in order to feel in a certain way. You can’t possibly feel joyful when you are frowning, are you able to?

Therefore, one of the quickest ways we teach in our NLP Consultant course to switch your state is to change how you “act” and adopt the physiology of excellence.

In NLP, the physiology of excellence makes reference to a technique of using your body or “acting” which enables you to feel and perform at your best. It can often involve having you to stand or sit with your spine held erect, inhaling deeply and uniformly from the stomach, limbs relaxed, and your heads angled a touch upwards.

  2. Change what you are focusing on: The second way in which you can manage our state is by means of changing your focus.

In NLP, we will be able to attain this by changing the internal representations about anything that we make up in our mind.

Most people have a tendency to link up everything they experience in life with footage and pictures in their mind. For example, if I asked you to recall a past when you were feeling pumped up about your life, have you got a picture? Is the picture that you have formed up in your brain in black and white or in color? Is the picture small or large?

Does it or does it not intensify your feeling of excitement when you turn the picture from Black and white into colour? Does enlarging the picture intensify the feelings? What about the distance? What will happen if you might just bring that picture even nearer to you? Are you now feeling more excited than before?

I am certain you would have felt the difference for yourself. The way in which we represent any experience in our mind can change how we feel about the situation.

After you've mastered the ability to change the internal representations of any experience in your life, you can now take charge of your state at any specific moment.

So if I may invite you to go flat out for the subsequent 7 days in taking control of your state. Change the way in which you act, change what you are targeting, and you will experience the power that correct utilization of NLP state management can do to your life!
