So in this post we're going to talk about and learn about Reishi Mushroom, and in fact potentially the most important herb on the planet. And why I say that, why I make that claim, is this herb is the most scientifically researched of any herb ever known, ever studied, etcetera. On top of that, it is one of the most revered, if not the most respected, herb of all of traditional China. And naturally that herb is reishi mushroom. Again, it's one of my favorite herbs and an herb that I have worked with quite a lot during the past eight or so years. It is one herb that I have gotten plenty of actually solid feedback about and I've heard just lots of great success stories.
So that the ancient Chinese text called the Shen Nong, which originates from a really, actually long time ago…essentially 500CE. It fundamentally stated that reishi is useful for augmenting vital energy, augmenting thinking faculty, and stopping forgetfulness. That is can refresh the body and mind, delay ageing, and enable one to live a long life. And it's also expounded to stabilise one’s psychological condition.
So on the subject and on the subject of talking about reishi as a sort of non secular aspect, we will be able to really see and recognize that it has a pretty colorful past. And according to legend, dowess clergymen in the 1st century were actually the first folks to truly experiment and use this herb. And I've basically read some dowess texts and seen in the dictionary they mention reishi mushroom, which was cool and pretty fun to see. And they're meant to have included the mushroom in magic drinks that would grand them longevity, never-ending youth, immortality, etcetera. And these dowess monks of the period practiced alchemy were pretty well known for casting spells and mixing diverse concoctions.
In our kind of modern time, we probably wouldn't use such agreeable terminology for them, but in that time, they were looked up to and considered to be magicians and wizards. But essentially, you have to remember that alchemy, what they were practicing, was the forerunner of chemistry, and essentially these people were shamans who were treating the sick and treating folks by summoning the forces of nature to basically cure folks and help folks. Again, we may make reference to another ancient Chinese text where reishi is extremely regarded, and it’s China’s oldest material medica called the Herbal Classic, and it’s essentially split into 365 ingredients and it basically ranks herbs into three different classes, being superior, and then sort of the medicinal, and sort of the inferior herbs.
This book says that it cures accumulation and pathogenic factors in the chest, it’s good for the chi of hte head, including the psychological activities.
